58. Tag: Kommunikativer Samstag

Heute war ein wunderbarer Tag: fauler Samstag!! Habe mir zum ersten mal einen richtigen faulen Tag in New York gegönnt. Habe ich noch nicht einmal gemacht seit ich in den USA bin. Und neben faul, war dieser Tag auch noch sehr kommunikativ. Ich habe heute stundenlang telefoniert und gechattet und an diesem tollen neuen Blog gearbeitet!!
Bloss abends habe ich mich dann mit dem Boston-Trupp getroffen und wir sind in die Coyote Ugly Bar gegangen. Ja, genau. Wie in dem Film. Tanzende Frauen auf den Tischen und Unmengen BHs an den Wänden!! *hihi* Aber die Bar ist leider erst aufgrund des Erfolges des Films entstanden und nicht andersrum. Und die Tänzerinnen waren auch net so doll. Aber lustig wars trotzdem!

57. Tag: Hannukah

Happy Hannukah!!

Und was macht ein Nicht-Jude an so einem Tag? Kino-Abend.Was auch sonst! *grins* Aber wir haben uns mal keinen Blockbuster reingezogen, sondern einen independent Film. Und der handelte sogar von einer jüdischen Family. Ich hatte ja von Parker Posey berichtet und jetzt haben Valentina und ich uns den derzeitigen Film mal angeschaut. War lustig, aber trotzdem kann ich jetzt nicht versprechen, dass ich Parker erkennen würde! ;)

56. Tag: Webster-Weihnachtsdinner

Heute war ein ganz chaotischer Tag beim Praktikum. Irgendwie hatten wir heute ganz viele merkwürdige Sachen zu tun, die sonst nicht anfallen. Aber das gibt einem dann mal ein bissel Abwechslung. Urgh, und ich muss grad einige Bücher aus meiner Sammlung bibliographieren. Hach, das habe ich ja schon früher so geliebt. *ironisch* Aber ich will mich nicht beschweren. Sind gestern noch so grade drum rum gekommen uns tot zu bibliographieren. Ich glaube es wäre sehr unlustig gewesen so etwa 30-40 Ordner durchzuarbeiten die voll sind mit Kopien von Titelangaben. Der Witz an der Sache war: Wir hatten die bibliographischen Angaben, aber die Titelseiten waren nicht kopiert!! Was macht das für einen Sinn!! Bibliographieren ohne Titel!! *zwinker*

Nach der Arbeit ist Valentina dann mit ins Webster gekommen, weil es dort heute ein Weihnachtsessen gab. Erst ein kleiner Empfang in der Lobby und im grossen Aufenthaltsraum und dann unten im dining room ein festliches Dinner Büffet. Ariane und Christoph waren mit von der Partie. Wir haben geschnackt, gegessen und irgendwann kam sogar der Weihnachtsmann und hat jedem ein kleines Päckchen überreicht. Jeder hat eine komische, ziemliche hässliche Schlüsselanhänger-Puppe bekommen. Zählt definitiv zu den hässlichsten Geschenken ever! *lol* Aber die Geste ist nett gewesen.

55. Tag: Gemütlicher Weihnachtspost-Abend

Juhu!! Endlich habe ich meinen freien gemütlichen Abend!! Das hätte ich mir schon längst mal gönnen sollen, aber ich war irgendwie immer unterwegs. Aber nun sitze ich hier, schreibe meine Weihnachtspost und kuschel mich in meine neue blaue Decke. Dieses Deckensystem macht mich hier wahnsinnig!! Da haste ein Laken, darüber eine armselige Wolldecke und eine Tagesdecke. Ist total nervig und nachdem ich mich letztens dafür entschieden hatte, die Heizung ganz abzustellen, ist es nachts doch eher etwas kühl.
Habe dieses umständliche zudecken jetzt noch durch eine tolle weiche Fleecedecke ergänzt. Ist nicht praktischer, aber dafür warm!!

54. Tag: Archivist Roundtable and Manhattan skyline by night

When Lea heard, that we´ve met Parker Posey yesterday she was pretty excited and was a bit jelous. She told us about her, and Michael sent us a posey-link.

In the evening we had our next appointment: Archivists Roundtable of NYC! We were invited to their xmasparty. Valentina wasn´t very happy to go there, but I told her that we should go. Even if it will be boring, it is fun just to see another kind of party. We had to pay 10 $ admission and also had to bring an unwrapped gift for a child.

We expected getting food if we pay that much, but as we arrived at “Fraunces Tavern” (US oldest tavern!) there where only a couple of plates with vegetable sticks!! Unbelieveable! We are hungry! So we went to the bar, picked a drink and then did what interns have to do: parking next to the food! *lol* Suddenly some guys came in and they brought some other plates with meat and with chocolate. Excellent!! So we walked from one table to the next, had some conversation and a lot of food. If you know you will never meet all these guys again you can do it on that way!! ;)

Against our expectations we had a lot of fun and good food. When we left the party at 8.30 pm, we walked around that area and decided to go to the harbour taking a view on the Statue of Liberty. It was the first time I had seen Miss Liberty that close and that was pretty cool! Suddenly somebody had the idea to go to Staten Island by ferry. We caught the ferry which was right coming in and enjoyed the view on Miss Liberty and skyline of Manhattan. It was awesome!! In Staten Island we jumped over to the next ferry and rode back immediately. This ferry ride is always a fun trip! I have to do it again!!

53. Tag: Dragqueen-Bingo

After this weekend I think I don´t have to tell you how tired I was this morning and that it was hard getting up that early. But the fact that I really enjoy my job here helps a lot getting up.
Just arrived at the LBI Mike came to our cubicle asking if we have plans for the evening. He invited us to come to a bingo party in the evening. Linda, a drag queen, is very popular for her/his bingo evenings. Linda also had bingo shows on TV, but is now doing them in a bar in NY. That sounds fun!! … The plan of being home early and having a relaxing evening died quickly. I had to play bingo!!

After work I headed to the Webster doing a call and also having dinner. Afterwards I met Valentina, Mike and Anke in the Village and we walked to the bar together. It was a pretty nice location and I was really excited for playing bingo.
I had three Bingo cards and we played 15 games. The last one was the jackpot game and I was sooooo good …. but failed!! Too bad!! Only one number was missing to get the 100 $! But even if I didn´t win, I had a lot of fun!! Hope to play another day again.
